NEW Body Shop 2015 / 2016 Project
Client: Volkswagen South Africa
Engineer: Aurecon Consulting Engineers
Contractor: Chris Howes Construction CHC-SA
Details of the Project
This project was a 4500m2 upgrade of an existing Tool Room for VWSA (Uitenhage)
The existing structure was originally built over a concrete external hardstand which was to falls.
The floor was broken out and replaced with suitable layer works done by the committed Cape Courts & Civils (Matthew van Jaarsveld, where nothing is ever a problem!)
The new floor was a 250mm thick, 35Mpa
Concrete supplied by Lafarge.
The concrete was placed, using a Somero SXP Laser Screed with and our experienced concrete placing and finishing Team and specialised equipment.
The surface finish was a “Dry Shake Light Grey Colour Floor Hardener”, supplied by RCR Qualidur HP, Supplied by RCR Construction Products. The surface was powerfloated smooth. The surface was densified with a sodium silicate and lightly diamond polished, creating a beautiful smooth and incredibly highly abrasion resistant surface.
Comments on the project:
We have been doing work for VWSA for the past 20 years. Our objective is to build and maintain long term relationships with our clients. We are only able to do this, by giving them the best possible service, advice and solutions and most importantly, the best possible product, on time!
Our team, managed by Jaco van Wyk (Director) kept tight control on the programme and quality. Well done and well managed Jaco!
There was excellent teamwork / relationship and synergy between Aurecon, the Client and ourselves! It was really a pleasure dealing with all parties on this project.
